Sleep Sound Generator – Masking The Sound Of Traffic
By sleepy | October 8, 2010
Who needs a sleep sound generator? You might want one of these products if you have difficulty getting to sleep at night, and the reason is that you want to neutralize an irritating background noise. This could be noise from traffic, or perhaps the television or music which is playing too loudly and stopping you from getting to sleep.
So who exactly are these sleep sound generators for?
Basically, it is for anyone who lives in a shared environment, such as an apartment building, where there is almost always noise of some kind going on at night. Or it could be useful for shift workers, restless sleepers, young and old individuals, and anyone who finds it hard to get to sleep. It certainly is worth trying one of these machines to solve your sleep problem.
The white noise coming from the machine is different from pre recorded white noise, which repeats itself once it has finished its cycle. This is kind of repetitive and as you lie there in bed you can find yourself listening for the part in the tape where it begins another cycle.
The white noise which comes from a machine is different, because it is “live” noise, or noise as it happens. If you are not familiar with this type of noise, it is like the whirring of an electric fan, which most people find relaxing to listen to.
It Doesn’t Have To Be Loud
A good sleep sound generator does not have to be loud, and you should be able to alter the settings to get just the right amount of white noise that you need. The most comfortable level will no doubt vary from one person to another. If you do not already own one of these machines, it might be worth investing in a Marpac dual speed sound conditioner, because you might need to alter the speed settings.
