Last Night I Couldn’t Get To Sleep – Have you Tried This Remedy?

Last night I couldn’t get to sleep. I have been a bit poorly the last few days, though I don’t know the cause. Lying down has been preferable to standing up, and it has been a real effort to walk, though I have had to sometimes, though not for very far. I have been off my food and last night I couldn’t get to sleep even though I felt very tired. A few hours passed by and I tried the usual natural sleep tricks, to no avail. My problem was the I was out of routine, and had a headache to boot, which I could not shake off. Finally, I turned on the radio and found myself listening to an interesting programme about the growth of the Indian economy over the last thirty years. Listening to the radio, and with the passing of time, I eventually dropped off to sleep. Thank goodness for that, and I slept through until my normal waking time. I can’t stress how important it is, in the cause of getting to sleep quickly, of clearing the mind of as many distractions as possible before switching out the bedroom light. We are all, to an extent, addicted to one form of technology or another. What Is It About Holidays Which Messes Up My Normal Sleep?

I tend not to sleep well when I go away on holiday, and this year has been no different. A wrong booking saw me exhausted at 1 am in the morning, and finally close to a bed where I could be asleep at last. No sooner had I sat on the bed than it broke. I wasn’t expecting that. Perhaps I should not have been surprised because it was a camp bed and it looked a bit on the flimsy side as well. Strange how we humans can rationalize events afterwards but are not so good at doing it before they happen. The first night in a strange bed in unfamiliar surroundings always messes up my sleep. I really need my sleep as I do find it hard to function normally without enough of it.
